As a small business owner, I’m all about working smarter not harder. When you have to wear (most) of the hats, you find ways to make things much easier 😉 With that being said, I’ve found a few apps this past year that have truly transformed my workflow and how efficient I am when creating. Here are my top 5 below:
- Biteable for video editing
- Airtable for project management
- Quickbooks for invoicing + mileage tracking
- Planoly for social media scheduling
- Slack for client communication
Biteable
Biteable is the best thing to come out of 2020. I’ve used it to edit a lot of my Tik Tok videos and Instagram Reels – it’s cut down my editing time by SO much (sorry, Adobe Rush). Whether you use their pre-made templates or create your own, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using their app to help grow my audience and cut down on time spent editing.
Airtable
This app is a little known gem for organizing projects and keeping my to do lists. I’ve synced it with my Google calendar so that I can always stay on task (and cut down on transferring things over) and have seen a difference in my productivity levels when using it. While I use the paid version, there is a free version available for anyone to use, you just have to sign up with your email!
Quickbooks
Quickbooks is one of my favorite apps for small business owners because it makes invoicing and taxes so much easier. At the end of each year, I just have to send over my quickbooks to my tax accountant and everything is good to go! An additional plus is that it makes your invoices look incredibly professional. A must when you’re first starting out, and in general.
Planoly
I’ve used Planoly since my social media manager days. It makes scheduling content for the next month SO easy, especially paired with my 365 days of captions that convert. I don’t have much to say about it other than it’s another must as an app for a small business owner.
Slack
Slack is basically a messaging system that you can use with your clients and set hours for when you’re online and away. That way, even if a client does contact you after hours, you’re able to relax and unwind, and get to that message when you’re back in the office!
