What does effective branding entail? There’s so many small pieces that fit together, and in order for you to be able to launch your new successful business, you need effective branding. In short, here are the 5 things you need:
- Target Audience
- Marketing Strategy
- Consistency
- Brand Style Guide
- Brand Pillars
Target Audience
Your target audience has to be defined in order to have an effective brand. When you’re hiring a talented brand designer, they should always design your brand around your TARGET AUDIENCE. I say this in all caps because I’ve seen brands designed to keep up with trends and brands designed just for the owner. This is great visually, but a brand with aesthetics and no purpose will do you no good. Start off with designing for your target audience, and if elements you like fit into that – great.
Marketing Strategy
After your brand is finished, you need a good marketing strategy. This goes along with effective branding as your marketing strategy is going to tie everything together in a pretty little bow. It should include things like your target audience, competition, mission statement, objectives, and product positioning. Once this is in place, you will then use your branding elements to carry things out such as product positioning.
Consistency
An effective brand has consistency. The colors, fonts, and logos all compliment each other and can be found throughout the website, advertisements, and social media. Since most of us are never going to be as big as nike, and won’t be able to use a simple graphic for brand recognition, we have to rely on consistently using our colors, voice, fonts, and logos for others to recognize us!
Brand Style Guide
Your brand style guide is an important factor in effective branding. As the consumer, you need to be able to know how to use your branding elements and what colors/fonts go well together. It’s the stepping stone to your success and your designer should always provide one when they finish your brand.
Brand Pillars
Your brand pillars are going to be used in your marketing strategy, and are KEY to creating a tribe of loyal followers + filling your calendar with dream clients.
